The weekend after Christmas, two box trucks and three construction vehicles owned by Habitat for Humanity were vandalized. A thief cut out and stole the catalytic converters from each of the vehicles leaving them damaged and illegal to drive. So far, one of the vehicles has an estimate of $3,000 to repair, and we expect $1,000’s more as we continue to have the other vehicles inspected.

T

he box trucks give us the ability to pick up large donations for the ReStore, where all funds support Habitat for Humanity’s mission. The construction trucks transport tools and supplies to locations where we are building or repairing homes for low-income families in Greene County.

Please support Habitat for Humanity so that we can repair our trucks as soon as possible. Donations will be used to fund repairs and to upgrade our security.

We are thankful for the teamwork of the Greene CountySherriff’s Office, Springfield Police Department, and the media for working with us to find answers. Right now, there are multiple repair projects and two new home builds in progress. We are hopeful that funds will be raised quickly in order to continue the organization’s mission of building and repairing homes for low-income families.
